PPT2002: AutoShape and Fill Are Saved as Single File When You Try to Save Fill Separately (285441)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

This article was previously published under Q285441

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft PowerPoint, if you try to save a fill that is contained in an AutoShape -- a picture fill, for example -- as its own picture by clicking Save as Picture on the Objects shortcut menu, the AutoShape and the fill are saved together as a single picture file.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Save as Picture command on the Objects shortcut menu saves the object, not the fill. There is currently no way to save only the fill within an object as its own picture.
