Exchange Event Source Queries Active Directory Twice for Each Message (285178)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server
This article was previously published under Q285178 SUMMARY
This article describes why the Exchange Event Source queries Active Directory twice for each message.
MORE INFORMATION
The Exchange Event Source that is included with Microsoft Mobile Information Server is installed on a computer that is running Exchange 2000 Server where it generates notifications.
The Exchange Event Source queries Active Directory twice for each message. The first query retrieves the phone number if a phone number cannot be found in a contact. The second query to Active Directory resolves the information in the To box when the message is saved in the Pickup folder.
Microsoft Mobile Information Server uses the same caching mechanism that is used by Exchange 2000, Dsaccess.dll. This file does not cache phone numbers. Therefore, when a phone number is required, a query must be made to Active Directory.
