SYMPTOMS

When you try to customize the toolbox from the Tools menu in Visual InterDev 6.0, the following error message appears:
Devenv.exe caused an invalid page fault in module Msenv.dll.

CAUSE

This error message can be caused by Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 being installed.

RESOLUTION

On the Start menu, click Settings, click Control Panel, and then choose Add\Remove Programs to uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0

STATUS

This behavior is caused by a ActiveX control in Adobe Reader 3.0.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Install Adobe Reader 3.0.
  2. From the Visual InterDev 6.0 Tools menu, select Customize Toolbox.
  3. Click the ActiveX Controls tab, and note that the error message appears.
