The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2002

This article was previously published under Q284867

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, when you print to a multiple-tray laser printer, the paper may be drawn from the wrong tray even though the correct tray is specified in Page Setup. Your printout may also be resized according to the paper size in your second paper tray.

For example, assume that you have two trays, with letter-size paper in one tray and A4-size paper in the other tray, and then you follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then select Letter in the Paper Size box.
  2. On the File menu, click Print.
The printer resizes and prints your print job using the A4-size paper, even though you selected Letter in the Paper Size box.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true:
  • You have a multiple-tray laser printer configured with letter-size paper in one tray, and A4-size paper in the second tray.
  • The printer Tray Selection Paper Source setting is set to Automatically Select.
  • On the International tab (click Options on the Tools menu), the Allow A4/Letter paper resizing check box is selected.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, click to clear the Allow A4/Letter paper resizing check box.
  1. Start Excel, and then on the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the International tab, and then click to clear the Allow A4/Letter paper resizing check box. Click OK.
