How to Use Chkwsp32.exe for Winsock Proxy Clients and ISA Server Firewall Clients (284523)

Chkwsp32.exe is a command line utility that you can run from the proxy client folder. If you are using Proxy Server 2.0, this utility is typically located in the C:\Msp\Clients\I386 folder, where C is the drive in which you installed Proxy Server. If you are using ISA Server 2000, this utility is typically located in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Firewall Clients folder, where C is the drive in which you installed Proxy Server.

If you install the proxy clients in some other location, you need to go to that particular folder. You can also search for the utility on your hard disk. You can run this utility only from these two locations.

At a command prompt, type chkwsp32 /?, and then press ENTER to see the following output:

   USAGE: chkwsp32 [-f  /f] [[-r /r] -s /s server] [-h /h -? /?] 
    -f,/f      : print all the diagnostic information 
    -r,/r      : force refreshing of configuration from the server forced by -s 
    -s,/s      : check (or refresh from, if -r specified) the specified server
    -h,/h,-?,/?: print this help information 
    no flags   : print the bottom line of the diagnostic operation
				

If you run Chkwsp32.exe without any argument, you see the following output:

   -------------------------------------------
   Client control protocol version MATCHES the server control protocol 
				

This output indicates that the proxy client matches the server control protocol. The use of both the -r and /r switches are similar to updating the proxy client by using the Winsock Proxy (WSP) Client tool in Control Panel.
