XADM: Exchange Tasks Menu Command Is Not Available (284224)

SYMPTOMS

In the Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, when you right-click the user name, the Exchange Tasks command is not available.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Exchange System Manager has not been installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:
  1. Run the Exchange 2000 Setup program from the Exchange 2000 Server CD-ROM on the computer where you want to add the Exchange extensions to Active Directory Users and Computers.
  2. When the Component Selection window is displayed in the Installation wizard, click Microsoft Exchange 2000, and then change the installation option to "Custom".
  3. Select Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools and set it to "Install". Leave all other components at the default setting of <your default setting>.
  4. Click OK to continue the installation.
After the Exchange System Manager has been installed, the Exchange Tasks command is available.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

The Exchange System Manager and the Windows 2000 Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in are used to manage Exchange 2000 Server. The Exchange System Manager can be installed on any computer that is running Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Professional that has the Windows 2000 Administration Tools package installed.
