SYMPTOMS

When you submit a Structured Query Language (SQL) query by using EXOLEDB and attempting to cast the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) entry ID as a string, the Exchange Information Store service may stop responding and generate a Dr. Watson log.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the Exchange 2000 information store misses a case in the property validation code for MAPI properties.

RESOLUTION
