Hewlett-Packard 6200C ADF Scanner Does Not Use the Flatbed Paper Source (283249)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Hewlett-Packard 6200C Automatic Document Feed (ADF) scanner, if you set the paper source mode to Flatbed, open the next page, insert documents in the tray, and then put the Document Feed lever up, the Scanner Wizard uses the Document Feed mode instead, and scans only one document from the tray.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Document Feed lever is a physical lever on the ADF scanner which overrides the settings that you configure in the Scanner Wizard. When the lever is engaged, the paper is pulled from the ADF tray, regardless of the software settings.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, do not engage the Document Feed lever.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
