Programs Started from Different .exe Files of the Same Name Are Not Grouped Together on Taskbar (283132)

SYMPTOMS

If you start programs from two different .exe files that have the same name, they are not grouped together on the taskbar. For example, if you start Notepad.exe on a local computer, and then start Notepad.exe on a network share, the two instances of Notepad are not grouped together.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because you did not start the program from the same .exe file.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
