XCCC: Changing Resources During a Conference Displays Only Local Resources (282417)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server

This article was previously published under Q282417

SYMPTOMS

When you change a conferencing resource during a currently running conference, you should be able to select another resource, provided that it contains similar Conferencing Technology Providers (CTPs) and settings. However, if you deploy Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server in multiple Windows 2000 sites, you are further restricted to choosing from only those resources that are local to the host server's site.

CAUSE

Conferencing resource mailboxes are associated with an Exchange Conferencing site during creation. This association attribute is parsed within Active Directory each time that a meeting organizer attempts to change the conference resource. Only the conference resource mailboxes that have associations that are "local" to the host server's site and that are configured the same as the currently-used resource are displayed.

Note: A host server is defined as the server that is running the active Conference Management Service.

RESOLUTION

To use additional conference resources you can use one of the following methods:
  1. Create additional conference resource mailboxes on servers within the Windows 2000 Conferencing site.

Note: Only conferencing resources that are configured exactly the same as the currently-used conferencing resource are displayed.

    -OR-
  2. Move the conferencing resource mailboxes that are residing on servers in a remote site to one that is "local" to the host server's Windows 2000 site.
