OL2002: POP3 Headers Do Not Generate New Mail Notifications (281364)

SYMPTOMS

When you receive message headers in Outlook 2002, you might not receive a new mail notification even if you have selected that option.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Outlook 2002 does not display the new mail notification when headers are received.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, download the complete item. To do this:
  1. On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
  2. Select the group, and then click Edit.
  3. Click to select Download complete item including attachments.
  4. Click OK, and then click Close.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
