Save a Publication as a PostScript (PS) File

Method 1

NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

1. Open the publication you want to convert into a PostScript (PS) file.
2. Click Save As on the File menu.
3. Choose a folder location to save the PostScript file to. To give the file a different name, type the name in the File name box. By default, the PS file has the same name as the original PUB file.
4. In the Save as type list, click PostScript (*.ps).
5. Click Save. This opens the Save As PostScript File dialog box.
6. To create the PS file, select a MS Publisher Imagesetter printer driver in the Name list. Most PostScript drivers can be used to convert the publication to a PS file.
7. Click Save.

NOTE: If your computer is running Microsoft Windows 2000, the printer driver that is selected as the default will create the PostScript file.

Method 2

1. Open the publication that you want to convert into a PostScript (PS) file.
2. On the File menu, click Print. This opens the Print dialog box.
3. To create the PS file, select a MS Publisher Imagesetter printer driver in the Name list. (Many other PostScript drivers can also be used to convert the PUB file to a PS file).
4. Select the Print to file check box.
5. Click Properties.
6. Click the PostScript tab. (If your computer is running Microsoft Windows 2000, the PostScript options can be found by clicking the Advanced button.)
7. Select one of the PostScript options in the PostScript output format list.
8. Click OK twice.
9. The Print To File dialog box appears. You must manually create a file name with the appropriate PS extension in order to convert the file to PostScript. Publisher automatically inserts a PRN extension that must be manually changed to PS (for example: test.ps).
10. Click OK.
11. The PostScript file will be located in the folder that was specified in the Print to File dialog box.

Save a Publication As an Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) File

Publisher cannot convert a multiple-page publication into an EPS file. A separate EPS file must be created from each page of the publication. In order to do this, follow these steps for each page of your publication:

1. Open the publication that you want to convert into an Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file.
2. Navigate to the page of the publication that you want to convert to an EPS file.
3. On the File menu, click Print. This opens the Print dialog box.
4. To create the EPS file, select an MS Publisher Imagesetter printer driver in the Name list. Most PostScript drivers can be used to convert the PUB file to an EPS file.
5. Select the Print to file check box.
6. Click Current page under the Print range options.
7. Click Properties.
8. Click the PostScript tab. (If your computer is running Microsoft Windows 2000, the PostScript options can be found by clicking the Advanced button.)
9. Select the Encapsulate PostScript (EPS) option in the PostScript output format list.
10. Click OK twice.
11. The Print to File dialog box appears. You must manually create a file name with the appropriate EPS extension in order to convert the file to Encapsulated PostScript. Publisher automatically inserts a PRN extension that you must manually change to EPS (for example: test.eps).
12. Click OK.
13. The Encapsulated PostScript file will be located in the folder that was specified in the Print to File dialog box.
