SUMMARY

While you are using Outlook 2002, your computer may seem to stop responding (hang) when it is synchronizing your offline folders (OST) across a Remote Access Service (RAS) connection.

MORE INFORMATION

When you use the Send/Receive feature in Outlook 2002 to synchronize your offline and online information over a RAS connection, which has low bandwidth, transmission of a lot of data is very slow. The synchronization process occurs in the background, but you cannot gain access to Outlook while it runs, and the computer seems to hang. You may wait for 30 seconds or more to get access to the program again.
