This article was previously published under Q280962

SYMPTOMS

On a system that has Outlook 2002 installed, when you attempt to send an e-mail by using the Send To command in a Microsoft Office 2000 program, you receive one of the following error messages:
Program could not start the e-mail program. Check your network connection. Make sure Office is installed correctly, your e-mail program is set up correctly, and you can connect to your e-mail server.
Program could not load the e-mail envelope. This could be caused by a network connection problem or a problem with your Office installation.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue you can do one of two things. The first is to save the file in the application (Excel, Word, etc), create a new mail message and then attach the file and send the e-mail.

The second is to revert to Outlook 2000 or upgrade the remaining Office 2000 programs to Microsoft Office XP.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
