This article was previously published under Q280558 SYMPTOMS
When you upgrade to Microsoft Office XP from Microsoft Office 2000, your PowerPoint 2000 templates are not saved and installed in the Office XP template folder. As a result, some of the PowerPoint 2000 templates are not available when you upgrade to Office XP.
WORKAROUND
To save the templates that were installed with PowerPoint 2000, follow these steps. NOTE: This procedure is effective only if you have not yet upgraded to Office XP.
- Create a temporary folder named PPT Designs in the root directory of your hard drive.
- Create two subfolders of PPTDesigns, named 1033 and Presentation Designs.
- Copy the PowerPoint 2000 templates from the subfolders in the Templates folder (typically C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\Presentation Designs and C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033) to the corresponding folders in the PPTDesigns folder that you created.
- Install Microsoft Office XP. The installation program uninstalls all Office 2000 files, including the design templates.
- Copy the PowerPoint 2000 templates that you saved in the PPT Designs folder to the corresponding folders in the new Template folder, typically found at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates.
