Unable to Add Multiple Users to Distribution List from Outlook Client (280304)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Outlook to add multiple members to a Universal Distribution list, users with "Write Members" permission to the distribution list receive the following error message:
Changes to the distribution list membership could not be saved. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object.
However, when you add one member to the distribution list, the process works correctly. Note that the user that has the "Write Members" permission to the distribution list also has an Exchange 2000 mailbox.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

NOTE: This hotfix must be applied on all of the domain controllers and the global catalogs.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
