HIS Folder and Files Remain on the Computer After Uninstalling (280234)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BackOffice Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q280234

SYMPTOMS

When you uninstall Microsoft Host Integration Server (HIS) 2000 by using the Suite Integration Toolkit, this does not remove all files and registry entries. To completely uninstall HIS, you must manually delete the files and folders, as well as manually delete registry keys that are left behind.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the HIS uninstall routine leaves these folders and registry entries behind to avoid deleting client information that may be needed by the administrator.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To completely uninstall HIS, find and delete the following files and folders on the hard disk:

Important: These folders may contain important client information; make sure that you no longer need any of the contents prior to deleting the folders:

%SystemRoot%\Program files\Host Integration Server

%SystemRoot%\Program files\Microsoft Integration\Microsoft Backoffice Server 2000\Iserver.cmp

%SystemRoot%\Program files\Microsoft Integration\Microsoft Backoffice Server 2000\Hiserver.inf

%SystemRoot%\Program files\Microsoft Integration\Microsoft Backoffice Server 2000\Hiserver.siz

Use Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) to delete the following registry key:

HKey_Local_Machine\software\microsoft\HIS Clients
