PUB2002: Error Message: "File Is Being Used" When You Open Multiple Documents That Use the Same Template (279389)

When you create a publication that is based on a custom template that you or someone else created, and then you try to create another new publication based on the same custom template, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Publisher
The file is being used by another currently running instance of Publisher.
Try closing other instances of Publisher or saving your work in those instances; then try again.
Even if you save the first publication, you still cannot create a new publication that is based on a custom template that is in use.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, create only one publication at a time per custom template. Save and close the first document before you create a new publication that is based on the same custom template. After you create the new document, open the saved document and continue working on it.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
