Discrepancy between Commerce Server 2000 or Commerce Server 2002 Buyer Browse to Purchase report and Customer Sales report (278987)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2002
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2000
This article was previously published under Q278987 SUMMARY
When users view the Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 or Commerce Server 2002 Buyer Browse to Purchase report and Customer Sales report, they may notice that the sale and order counts do not match.
MORE INFORMATION
Users may believe that the "Count Sales" in the Buyer Browse to Purchase report should equal the sum of the number of "Orders" in the Customer Sales report.
However, this discrepancy exists because the Buyer Browse to Purchase report only includes the buying habits of the site's registered users, and the Customer Sales report includes the orders of all users, registered or unregistered. Because a Commerce Server 2000 site allows a customer that is not registered on the site to make a purchase, this customer's order does not appear in the "Count Sales" column of the Buyer Browse to Purchase report but does appear in the Customer Sales report.
Thus, users should add all of the orders on the Customer Sales report to obtain the total number of sales on a Commerce Server 2000 site. If users want to obtain the number of orders for the site's registered users, they should use the Buyer Browse to Purchase "Count Sales" report.
