SUMMARY

When you perform a "Remote Computer" installation of SQL Server 2000, the Upgrade, remove, or add components to an existing instance of SQL Server option is not available. The only option available is Create a new instance of SQL Server, or install Client Tools.

MORE INFORMATION

A remote installation of SQL Server 2000 only supports new instance, or client tools. If you need to add or remove components from an existing instance of SQL Server 2000, you have to perform that locally.
