This article was previously published under Q278593 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 AutoContent Wizard to create a presentation based on a template created using a previous version of PowerPoint, the color scheme of your template changes to a new color scheme with a blue background and yellow title text.
CAUSE
When you use the Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 AutoContent wizard to create a presentation based on a template created using Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, the wizard will use this blue and yellow color scheme by default.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods.
Apply Your Template As a Design Template to Your Presentation
You can change a presentation's color scheme by applying a template as a design template. To do so, follow these steps:
- Open the presentation you want to apply your template to.
- On the Formatting toolbar, click Design. (If you already have the Slide Design pane open with color schemes or animation schemes displayed, click Design Templates at the top.)
- Click Browse to find your template, and then click Apply.NOTE: Design templates you have applied appear in the Slide Design task pane under Used in this presentation. All available design templates appear under Available for use.
- To make further changes to your presentation using design templates, use one of the following steps:
- To apply a design template to all slides (and the slide master), click the template you want.
- To apply a template to a single slide, select the thumbnail on the Slides tab; in the task pane, point to the template and click the arrow, and then click Apply to Selected Slides.
- To apply a template to multiple selected slides, select the thumbnails on the Slides tab, and in the task pane, click the template.
- To apply a new template to a group of slides that currently use a different template, select one of the slides on the Slides tab; in the task pane, point to the template and click the arrow, and then click Apply to Master.
Manually Re-create the Color Scheme
You can manually change a presentation's color scheme by using the Slide Design-Color Schemes task pane. The color scheme of the selected slide appears selected in the task pane. You can apply a color scheme to one slide, selected slides, or all slides, as well as to notes and handouts. To do so, follow these steps:
- Open the presentation you want to apply the color scheme to.
- On the Formatting toolbar, click Design, and in the task pane, click Color Schemes.
- If you want to apply the color scheme to selected (rather than all) slides, select the slides on the Slides tab.
- In the task pane, under Apply a color scheme, point to the color scheme you want, and then do one of the following:
- To apply the scheme to all of your slides, click the scheme.
- To apply the scheme to selected slides, click the arrow on the color scheme, and then click Apply to Selected Slides.
- If you have applied more than one design template and want the color scheme applied to all slides, click the arrow on the color scheme, and then click Apply to All Slides.
- To apply the color scheme only to a set of slides that follow a certain design template, click a slide in that group, point to the color scheme, click the arrow, and then click Apply to Master.
