SYMPTOMS

When you apply the Visio 2000 Trial CD (Evaluation Kit) patch, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Vbox Error

Invalid format in file: c:\...\Visio_Standard_Patch.exe

-or-

Vbox Error

Invalid format in file: c:\...\Visio_Professional_Patch.exe

-or-

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details (on Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, press ALT+D), you receive the following message:
Visio_Technical_Patch.exe caused an invalid page fault in VISIO_TECHNICAL_PATCH.EXE at 016f:004077d5.
NOTE: The actual memory address may vary.

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details (on Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, press ALT+D), you receive the following message:
Visio_Enterprise_Patch.exe caused an invalid page fault in VISIO_ENTERPRISE_PATCH.EXE at 016f:004077d5.
NOTE: The actual memory address may vary.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you attempt to install the patch file on a computer that does not have Visio 2000 Evaluation Kit edition installed.

RESOLUTION

You must install an edition of the Visio 2000 Evaluation Kit before you can apply the patch.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
