Monitor Does Not Return Correctly From Hibernate Mode In Multiple-Monitor Configuration (277822)

SYMPTOMS

When you use three or more monitors in a multiple-monitor configuration, the second and third monitors may not recover from Hibernate mode and may stay blank. The primary monitor does recover from Hibernate mode correctly.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you are using an Appian video card that supports more than two monitors at a time. Note that this problem may occur on other monitors whose display adapters support more than two monitors.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
