This article was previously published under Q275959 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Word, when you attempt to create a table, you may receive the following error message:
The measurement must be between 0.17" and width".
When you click OK, you return to the Insert Table dialog box.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you are attempting to create a table that is 22 inches or greater in width. The design limit for a table in Word is 22 inches. You are most likely to receive this message when you are using a fixed column width.
NOTE: If you are using a column width that is dependent on the contents (click AutoFit to contents in the Insert Table dialog box), the contents of the table begin to wrap when the table width reaches 22 inches.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, ensure that the total number of columns in your table multiplied by the width of the columns is less than 22 inches.
