The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2002
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2000
This article was previously published under Q275932 SYMPTOMS
When you enter text into either a single-line or multi-line text box in the Commerce Server 2000 Business Desk, the user may be prevented from entering additional text, or pasted text may be truncated. No error message is displayed.
CAUSE
Generally, single line text boxes have a limit of 100 characters, whereas multi-line text boxes have a limit of 255 characters.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
MORE INFORMATION
The two types of text box widgets in the Business Desk have limits on the maximum number of allowable characters. After the limit is reached the user is prohibited from entering more characters.
If text is copied and pasted into a text box, and the text is longer than the maximum allowable length, the text is truncated, and no error message is displayed.
When entering new advertisements of type Text or HTML, the multi-line text boxes for the creative content (Text or HTML Text under Ad Display) does not have these limits.
