Windows Media SDK IWMWriter::WriteSample Fails with 0xC00D0018 (NS_E_FILE_WRITE) Error (275920)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Media SDK, version 7.0
This article was previously published under Q275920 SYMPTOMS
When you repeatedly open a file sink, write samples, and then close the file sink, the Microsoft Windows Media SDK IWMWriter::WriteSample method may fail with a 0xC00D0018 (NS_E_FILE_WRITE) error.
CAUSE
The file sink close method executes before all the samples queued in the writer are committed to disk. This causes an invalid handle error in the file sink, which is returned as NS_E_FILE_WRITE. The writer checks the last status of the file sink before queuing more samples in WriteSample and detects the NS_E_FILE_WRITE error state in the writer, which it then returns to the caller.
