FIX: OLAP Manager may return error after you install MDAC 2.6 (275867)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services 7.0
- Microsoft Data Access Components 2.6
This article was previously published under Q275867 BUG #: 11287 (plato7x) SYMPTOMS After you install Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)
version 2.6, and you try to copy and paste an OLAP object from OLAP Manager or
use the Cube/Dimension Editor to add a new object, you may receive the
following error message: Arguments are of the wrong
type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another.
CAUSE Because the SQL Server driver that ships with MDAC 2.6 is
more restrictive, this error occurs when objects are saved and read from the
repository. This only occurs if the OLAP repository is migrated to SQL Server.
WORKAROUND To work around this problem, you can roll back to an
earlier version of MDAC. For more information about the Rollback feature, see
the "Frequently asked questions about the installation of Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)" article on the following Microsoft Web site: STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in SQL Server OLAP Services
7.0 Service Pack 3.
