SUMMARY

The Microsoft HomeClick program that is included with the 3Com HomeConnect package includes a utility called Network Profiles. This utility enables you to change your network configuration from the original profile to the HomeClick profile, and from the HomeClick profile back to the original settings.

MORE INFORMATION

When you use Network Profiles, you can change the network configurations by using a desktop shortcut, or by using the Options menu in the HomeClick program.

To create a shortcut to Network Profiles, follow these steps:
  1. Click the Options menu, and then click Profiles.
  2. At the bottom of the Network Profiles window, click the Create a shortcut on your desktop to quickly switch profiles shortcut icon, or click the word "shortcut."
HomeClick makes a backup copy of the network configuration settings that were present on the computer when the HomeClick software was installed. You can switch to this configuration when necessary.

For example, when the computer is configured with Client for Microsoft Networks, if you log on to a Windows NT domain controller at work, but when you use your computer at home, you log on to an Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) host, you can use Network Profiles to switch between settings easily.

When you use Network Profiles, you can also save the configurations for the computer name, the workgroup name, and sharing options.
