Error Message: Event ID: 3101 - Unable to Read Control Information from NBT Device (275586)

If you collect performance data while your network adapter is disabled, the following information may be reported in the Application log:
"Event ID: 3101 - Unable to read control Information from NBT device".
CAUSE
This problem can occur because Windows 2000 incorrectly interprets that the network adapter is always present and active. If the preceding error does occur, the level was changed, so it is reported as a "Warning" (yellow) instead of an "Error" (red).
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
