Certificate Object GetMapping Call Fails When Index Is Greater than 9 (275537)

SYMPTOMS

When you call the GetMapping method in an IIsCertMapper object o enumerate client mapping certificates, you cannot return more than nine objects. The error code returned is -2147024893 (80070003 "The system cannot find the path specified").

CAUSE

The path to a client certificate is incorrectly calculated.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows NT service pack that contains this hotfix.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Internet Information Server 4.0 and Internet Information Services 5.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
