WD2001: AppleWorks Drawing Object in Footer Appears Below Footer Text (275397)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2001 for Macintosh

This article was previously published under Q275397

SYMPTOMS

When you open an AppleWorks word processing document in Microsoft Word 2001 for Mac, the graphic that was in the footer above text now is under the text.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because of the way the Word 2001 for Mac file converter changes the graphics when a document is converted from AppleWorks 5 format to Word 2001 for Mac. The graphics in the footer of AppleWorks documents is changed to an absolute position instead of being aligned with text.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior and move the graphic to the proper place in the footer, follow these steps:
  1. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
  2. Click the graphic.
  3. On the Format menu, click AutoShape.
  4. On the Layout tab, click Advanced.
  5. On the Picture Position tab, click Alignment under both Horizontal and Vertical.
  6. Select Bottom in the vertical alignment field, click OK, and then click OK.
  7. On the View menu, click to clear Header and Footer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
