WD98: Document Still Seems to Be a Word File After You Save It in Another Format (275347)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition

This article was previously published under Q275347

SYMPTOMS

When you save an existing document in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition and you change its format but not its name, the newly saved file may appear to still be a Word document.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because Word does not always replace the file type when you save a Word document after you change its format. However, the file is saved in the specified format.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, when you save a document to another format, either give the file a new name or save it in a different location.

STATUS

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 2001 Macintosh Edition.
