When you try to label a tape or write to a tape by using a Hewlett-Packard (HP) C1537A SCSI tape drive, you may receive the following error message even though your tape is not write protected:
Tape write-protected
Note that this issue may not always occur when you try to label a tape or write to a tape.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if the tape drive has a firmware problem.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact HP to determine if the tape drive has a firmware problem.
