Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) may be slow to respond to registering event consumers that poll classes whose instances sizes are very large. For example, Active Directory objects may have this problem because they are normally very large.

How to Use the Hotfix InstallerNOTE: You can use this method only for Intel-based computers running Windows 2000.
- Copy the hotfix file (Q274599.exe) to a local folder on your computer, or copy the file to a share on your network.
- Run the Q274599.exe file and follow the directions.
- Reboot your computer.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
