IntelliType Mac: System Alert sound is played when you adjust the volume (272917)

When you listen to a CD by using the Apple CD Audio Player, the
System Alert sound is played when you press one of the Volume hot keys
on one of the keyboards that are listed in the "Applies To" section to adjust the
volume of the music.CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Microsoft IntelliType software and the
System sound share the same built-in output channel.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
