OFF2001: "Out of Memory" Error Message When You Use Remove Scratch Tool (272909)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac, when you use the Remove Scratch tool on the Picture toolbar to remove a scratch from a picture, you may receive an error message similar to the following
Out of memory
and the scratch is not removed as expected. Additionally, the computer may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when Microsoft Office programs are low on memory. Low-memory situations can occur when you edit very large images.

WORKAROUND

To reduce your chances of receiving this error message, turn on Virtual Memory. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Quit all programs.
  2. On the Apple menu, point to Control Panels, and then click Memory.
  3. In the Virtual Memory section, click to select the On check box, and then close the Memory control panel.
  4. On the Special menu, click Restart.
