WD2001: Incomplete Screen Is Redrawn When You Adjust Volume or Brightness on a PowerBook (272817)

When you use the VOLUME or BRIGHTNESS keys on a Macintosh PowerBook, an incomplete screen redraw may occur, thereby leaving a blank space on the screen where the Volume or Brightness system message was displayed.
WORKAROUND
To force a complete screen redraw, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Use the mouse pointer to drag the scroll box up or down one page or until the box has disappeared from screen.
Method 2- Open a Word document.
- Press the BRIGHTNESS increase and decrease keys located in the top row of the PowerBook keyboard.
- Wait for the system message to disappear.
- Click the Collapse Box, and then click the Expand Box to force a complete screen redraw.
