You may be unable to make a network connection between two computers by using an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
1394 cable, if all of the following conditions exist:
- The IEEE 1394 cable is connected to both computers before you start the computers.
- At least one of the computers uses a VIA Technologies Open Host Controller Interface (OHCI) 1394 controller.
You might see error messages for the NDIS 1394 Net Adapter device in Device Manager, and might be unable to browse, ping, or perform other network connectivity tasks between the two computers.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when a command with an incorrect parameter is sent to the VIA 1394 controller by the IEEE 1394 controller driver (Ohci1394.sys) during startup.
If there is no cable connected when the computer is started, the invalid command is ignored. If the cable is connected after the computer is started, normal network connectivity works.
