SYMPTOMS

When you are sharing a USB printer and you connect to a computer that is running the Microsoft HomeClick program, the Hcdetect.exe tool from the other computer does not automatically detect the printer. Although the USB printer is not automatically detected by Hcdetect.exe, it is displayed on the HomeClick Printers menu.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue install the proper driver for the printer manually. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click the printer name
  2. In the Enable Printer dialog box, click Next and follow the instructions in the wizard to install the printer drivers.

MORE INFORMATION

When you use the HomeClick program, a utility called Hcdetect.exe runs in the background. Hcdetect.exe automatically detects printers that are being shared by other computers that are running the HomeClick program and offers to install the drivers for these printers.
