ENT2001: Entourage Quits Immediately If the Internet Config Extension is Missing (271810)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start Entourage the program appears to start and then quit and you do not receive an error message.

CAUSE

The Apple Macintosh Internet Config extension is missing from your operating system installation. Entourage requires this extension.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, activate or reinstall the Internet Config extension.

The default location for the Internet Config extension is in the following folder:

Hard Disk:System Folder:Extensions

You can use the Sherlock utility to search for the missing extension. If the extension is on your hard disk, move it to the following location, and then restart your computer:

Hard Disk:System Folder:Extensions

If the Internet Config extension is not on your hard disk, re-install it from the original Macintosh operating system (OS) CD-ROM. For versions of the Macintosh OS from 8.5 through 9.0, this extension is located in the System folder on the CD-ROM.

NOTE:In some cases, you may need to re-apply Macintosh OS updates after you re-install the file from the CD-ROM.

An Internet Config Error occurred. Please verify the mail and news settings.
This behavior can occur because the Apple Macintosh Internet Config extension is missing from your operating system installation or it is damaged. Entourage requires this extension.

To resolve this issue, activate or reinstall the Internet Config extension. To do so, locate the Internet Preferences file in the HD\System \Folder\Preferences folder. Place this file into the trash.
