The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
This article was previously published under Q271718 SYMPTOMS
When you decrease the left margin when you are printing envelopes on some Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500 series printers, the text is cut off. When you use the default settings, the return address is printed too far from the left.
CAUSE
All documents have an unprintable area on the bottom of the page. Therefore, paper orientation is important for the document to be printed correctly. Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98 drivers orient the paper to account for the unprintable area, but Windows 2000 mini-drivers do not.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following drivers:
- HP DeskJet 500
- HP DeskJet 500C
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
