Active Directory MMC Tools Are Slow to Initialize (270915)

SYMPTOMS

Active Directory Microsoft Management Console (MMC) utilities may be slow to initialize and run. They may also stop responding (hang) during the initialization procedure.

CAUSE

DNS is not properly configured for the domain controller. It may be pointing to a DNS server that does not contain the SRV records for the domain.

DNS can also have entries for domain controllers that are offline or unavailable.

RESOLUTION
