To install Microsoft Reader in Safe Mode, follow these steps:
  1. Download Microsoft Reader from the following Microsoft Web site:
  2. On the download Web page, locate and click the msreadersetup.exe link.
  3. Click Save or Save this program to disk, and then click OK.
  4. In the Save In dialog box, click Desktop, and then click Save.
  5. When the file is finished downloading, click Close, and then disconnect from the Internet.
  6. Restart your computer in Safe mode. In Microsoft Windows 95, restart the computer, and then press the F8 key when the "Starting Windows 95" message is displayed on the screen. In Microsoft Windows 98/ME, restart the computer, and then press and hold down the CTRL key until the Microsoft Windows 98 Startup menu is displayed on the screen.

  7. Select Safe Mode from the Startup menu, and then press ENTER.
  8. When the computer starts in Safe mode, click OK.
  9. Double-click the Msreadersetup.exe file on your desktop, and then follow the instructions on the screen to install MIcrosoft Reader.

NOTE: You cannot restart a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer in Safe mode. To install the Microsoft virtual machine on a Windows NT 4.0-based computer, restart the computer in normal mode, quitall unnecessary programs, and then proceed to the next step.
