XL2001: Calculated Column Returns #REF! Error in a List Object When the Data Source Shrinks (270080)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q270080 SYMPTOMS
When you refresh the data that is imported into a list object, any cells in a calculated column that are below the range of the data may display the #REF! error message.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when the number of rows in the data source has been reduced, for instance, by deleting records. The list object shrinks to adapt to the new data range, but any rows that are below the range of the data source display #REF! in calculated columns.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, double-click the heading of calculated columns, and then, in the Column Settings dialog box, click OK to refresh the formula throughout the column.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
