IntelliPoint Error Message: Setup Requires System-Administrator Privileges in Windows NT (270016)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install the Microsoft IntelliPoint software on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft IntelliPoint Setup requires system-administrator privileges in Windows NT.
When you click OK, Setup quits.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are not logged on to the computer as an Administrator.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, log off from the computer, and then log on to the computer as an Administrator.
