WD2001: CLOSE Button Does Not Close the Comments Window As Expected (269946)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word 2001, when you click Comments on the Insert menu and then click the CLOSE button, the Comments window may not close as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you open the Comments window, don't type any comment, and then immediately click the CLOSE button.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do one of the following:
  • Click the CLOSE button a second time.

    -or-
  • Type a comment, and then click the CLOSE button.

    -or-
  • Pause for a moment, and then click the CLOSE button.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Word 2001 Macintosh Edition.
