SYMPTOMS

When Partition Magic is installed on your computer and you try to dual boot Windows 2000 with another Microsoft Windows-based operating system, you may receive a "blue screen" STOP error message when you use the boot manager to boot to Windows 2000. This occurs when both operating systems are installed on the same partition.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you are using Partition Magic version 3.x, which is incompatible with Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, upgrade Partition Magic to version 5.01. This is the only version of Partition Magic that is compatible with Windows 2000.

To work around this behavior, uninstall Partition Magic. If you want to dual boot Windows 2000 with another version of Windows, you must install the two operating systems on different partitions.
