XCCC: H.323 Conference Participants Are Unable to View IP Multicasting Conference Participants (269085)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the H.323 connectivity method, you are unable to hear or see other participants that are using the IP Multicasting connectivity method (and vice versa). However, participants who use the same connectivity method can see and hear each other.

CAUSE

The T.120 MCU/H.323 bridge is not able to connect with IP Multicasting participants. Therefore, audio and video translation between the two connectivity methods cannot occur.

NOTE: This topology assumes that the T.120 MCU/H.323 bridge is located on a server other than the server that is running the Conference Management Service (CMS).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, establish IP Multicasting connectivity between the two separate servers.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, force all clients to use the H.323 connectivity method instead of the IP Multicasting connectivity method.
