Works 6: Error Message Occurs When You Paste Excel Data from Portfolio into Word Processor (268767)

When you copy data from a Microsoft Excel worksheet and paste the data into Microsoft Works Portfolio, and you then copy the Excel data from Works Portfolio and attempt to paste it into a Works Word Processor document, you may receive the following error message
Works cannot complete the task because there is not enough memory on your computer. Try closing some programs or restarting Windows.
or Works Portfolio may quit unexpectedly.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because an Excel worksheet is not copied as expected into a Works Word Processor document.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, do not use Works Portfolio if you want to copy and paste Excel worksheet data into a Works Word Processor document.
To copy and paste Excel worksheet data directly into a Works Word Processor document, follow these steps:
- In Excel, select the cells that you want to copy.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Start or select Works Word Processor.
- Place the insertion point at the position where you want to paste the Excel data.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
- In the As box, click Microsoft Excel Worksheet, and then click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works 6. MORE INFORMATIONMicrosoft Excel Worksheet is not one of the available options in the Paste Special dialog box when you paste an Excel data object from Works Portfolio.
