SYMPTOMS

When you copy a file that has a file name of 167 characters or more from a Web folder (located on a Web server) to a local folder (located, for example, on drive C of your computer) you may obtain a zero byte file (a file with no contents).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you must shorten the file name to less than 160 characters before you copy it to a local folder.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
